YK-11, commonly referred to as Myostine, is a unique compound that functions as both a Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator (SARM) and a myostatin inhibitor, placing it at the intersection of two powerful anabolic mechanisms. Structurally, YK-11 is a synthetic steroidal SARM, based on a modification of dihydrotestosterone (DHT), but it displays selective activity at androgen receptors with minimal androgenic side effects in non-target tissues. Its most distinctive feature is its ability to suppress myostatin expression, a regulatory protein that inhibits muscle growth. By limiting myostatin’s effect, YK-11 may allow muscle tissue to exceed normal genetic potential for hypertrophy.

In in vitro and early-stage in vivo studies, YK-11 has demonstrated the potential to:

• Demonstrate potent stimulation of myogenic differentiation and hypertrophic activity in muscle precursor cells, surpassing the effects observed with conventional non-steroidal SARMs in in vitro models.
• Induce upregulation of follistatin expression, a glycoprotein known to inhibit myostatin signaling and modulate muscle tissue development.
• Exhibit tissue-selective androgen receptor modulation, with minimal activation of non-target androgen-sensitive tissues such as the prostate and hair follicles, as observed in preclinical studies.
• Promote osteogenic differentiation and activity in osteoblast-like cell lines through androgen receptor–mediated pathways.
• Engage both genomic and non-genomic androgenic mechanisms associated with anabolic processes, resulting in increased lean tissue accumulation in non-clinical models.

Unlike non-steroidal SARMs, YK-11’s structure may lead to partial suppression of natural testosterone and require additional consideration in hormonal research models.
