S-23 is a highly potent, non-steroidal Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator (SARM) developed to investigate anabolic and male contraceptive effects. Structurally related to S-4 (Andarine), S-23 was optimized for greater receptor affinity, higher oral bioavailability, and more complete suppression of spermatogenesis in preclinical models. Preclinical data indicate that S-23 exhibits high selectivity for androgen receptors, eliciting potent anabolic effects in skeletal muscle and bone, while exerting limited activity in androgen-sensitive tissues such as the prostate.

In laboratory studies, S-23 has been shown to:

• Induce dose-dependent increases in lean body mass, accompanied by reductions in fat mass, without significant fluid retention
• Enhance skeletal muscle mass and performance-related parameters under controlled dietary conditions
• Suppress serum levels of endogenous testosterone and luteinizing hormone (LH) more profoundly than comparator SARMs, supporting investigation in the context of male contraception
• Reduce androgen-induced prostate enlargement, despite exhibiting potent anabolic activity in muscle and bone tissues
• Demonstrate hormonal recovery following cessation of administration, consistent with dose-dependent reversibility of hypothalamic–pituitary–gonadal (HPG) axis suppression in animal models

Due to its aggressive anabolic profile, S-23 is often researched for recomposition models, hormone suppression protocols, and evaluation of its dual anabolic and contraceptive action.
