RAD-140 (Testolone) is a synthetic non-steroidal Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator (SARM) currently under investigation for its potent anabolic activity in skeletal muscle and bone tissue. It exhibits high binding affinity and specificity for androgen receptors, selectively modulating androgen-responsive gene networks while minimizing activation in non-target tissues. Preclinical studies have characterized RAD-140’s ability to elicit tissue-selective anabolic signaling without conversion to estrogenic metabolites, distinguishing it mechanistically from traditional steroidal androgens. This compound is being evaluated in non-clinical models for its potential to replicate androgenic signaling with reduced off-target effects.
In preclinical trials and ongoing research, RAD-140 has demonstrated the potential to:
- Demonstrate anabolic activity in skeletal muscle tissue in preclinical models, contributing to increased muscle mass and contractile strength.
- Influence oxidative metabolism and muscle fiber composition in animal studies, suggesting potential involvement in mitochondrial function and recruitment pathways.
- Exhibit neuroprotective properties in non-human models, potentially through modulation of androgen receptor-mediated signaling in neural tissues.
- Promote anabolic activity in bone tissue without concurrent stimulation of androgen-sensitive organs such as the prostate, based on in vivo data.
Due to its non-steroidal structure, RAD-140 does not convert to DHT and exhibits reduced risk of hair loss, acne, or prostate-related complications compared to traditional androgens.
